Yorkshire's Living Sea a highlight of RSWT Director's Conference
RSWT Director’s Conference
The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust recently hosted the Royal Society of Wildlife Trust’s annual Directors conference, with Living Seas high on the agenda.
At the Royal York Hotel leaders of the 47 UK Wildlife Trusts met for their annual conference where they focused on the Trust’s two key missions: A Living Landscape and Living Seas, both of which set out to ensure the UK’s natural environment is well equipped to handle current and future threats such as a changing climate.
With these two key missions in mind delegates were whisked off to one of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s flagship reserves - Flamborough Head Nature Reserve. Led by reserves manager Caroline Comins delegates took a stroll along Flamborough’s coast path to look at the nesting puffins before joining Marine Awareness and Research Officer Kat Sanders on the beach at North Landing for a spot of Shoresearching (rockpooling for adults!).
When asked what the highlight of this years Directors conference was, Brendan Joyce Director of Norfolk Wildlife Trust said: “Well it’s got to be standing here on this lovely beach, but it can only get better from here on in.”
All the delegates thoroughly enjoyed their day at Flamborough Headland, spotting lots of marine and coastal wildlife. The Trust will be running lots of activities in and around the reserve over the summer so for more information visit our website www.ywt.org.uk or call the Trust on 01904 659570.
